Precambrian Time
Precambrian means “before cambrian period” and doesn’t really have a nickname. The Precambrian Time starts 4.6 billion years ago at the start of the Earth. It ended 70 million years ago. It was cold and there were many glaciers during the Precambrian. Scientists think that the temperature was between 100 and 0oc. Super continent Rodinia formed at the start of the era. 550 million years ago Pannotia the super continent formed. The Earth formed from dust and gas at the start of the Precambrian. The first beaches formed, along with the two super continents Rodinia and Pannotia (both at different times.) The first life forms evolved, creating more oxygen for other species to develop. The Cambrian explosion was when hundreds of new life forms developed at the same time. Plants and fungi evolved before the Cambrian explosion. A mass extinction due to changes in oxygen levels marked the end of the Precambrian.
